Black Clouds And Romea Theater

Although today it's raining (all night has been raining non-stop), yesterday afternoon there was a lull, but only for a moment. In fact, when I returned home hail. I had to stop under a bridge to prevent damage to my car. At that moment it dawned on me not miss a shot. I am more concerned about the car.

Rainy Day At Work

For almost the entire weekend it has been raining in Murcia.

The picture is this morning before entering to work where you can see the clouds full of water.

Santa Isabel's Square (Plaza De Santa Isabel)

In the city center, near the Gran Via, is this square. Surrounded by flowers, is widely used by children, as they exist inside a kinder playground.

Bike Lane (Carril-Bici)

Along the river Segura, since the beginning of the Malecon, there is this bike lane. It is one of the few bike lanes that exist in Murcia. The Murcian demand more bike lanes to use the car less.

Old Artillery Barracks (Antiguo Cuartel De Artillería)

About the Artillery Barracks I have published several pictures (see labels).

This is the back view from the river Segura.

The truth is that the former military barracks in a privileged area. Luckily, now all Murcian and visitors can enjoy this place.

Tai Chi In The Gardens Of The Malecón

The Malecón and gardens are our particular Murcian Central Park. It is a botanical garden with numerous plants. In the picture a group of people practicing Tai Chi. I would like to practice this martial art-philosophy on the day I have time and quiet.

The Matron Of Murcia (La Matrona de Murcia)

This relief is on the facade of the Palace Almudí (see photo released yesterday).

The façade can be embossed medallion of breastfed of Murcia or Pósito of bread, by Hernando de Torquemada, who represents one-Murcia-breastfed who is nursing a child next to his, and that is significant symbol of hospitality of Murcia.

Almudí Palace (Palacio Almudí)

17th century.

Attributed to Pedro Monte de Isla. This building was built between 1602 y 1628, also called "Depósito  de Trigo", it was a public building designed for grain storage from tithes.

It was restored in 1985 as a Municipal Archive and an Art Center, it is distinguished by an image of a woman - symbolizing the warm spirit of Murcia which decorates the facade (the Matron of Murcia) and by the patio of columns (Source: Municipality of Murcia)

New High School Of El Carmen

On March 12 I published a photo of the old institute of El Carmen. Today, I will show the new building.

It is next to the river Segura.

At the entrance of the walkway of El Malecón you will find this statue of Saint Francis of Assisi, by the sculptor Manuel Mateo

Main Entrance Of El Malecon Walkway

I have already written on El Malecón de Murcia.
This is the main entrance to the promenade. Here I leave with you a little more history of one of the favorite places to go out of Murcia to walk or run.
18th century. The previous walkway datedfrom 1420 and was constructed to protect the city from the occasional floods from the river. In 1733 work began on what would become the Malecón witch today is a boardwalk of 1585 metres above Murcia.

Find Your Parking

In Murcia there are several park and ride free. This in particular is situated between the River Segura and the Malecón Walkway. Clear that as everyone knows these parks, it is difficult to find parking.

Darth Vader Or Lady Of Murcia

This sculpture by Manolo Valdés was called by the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, as Lady of Murcia.
Although the name that the artist gave at the time was Lydia.
Although most of the Murcian named this sculpture as Darth Vader.
With this picture of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker's father, I take that today is Father's Day in Spain (do not know if this day is celebrated around the world).
Happy Father's Day to all dads in the world.

Roundabout (Plaza Circular)

This fountain is in the rotunda of Murcia and has been a celebration of promotions Real Murcia, as well as the league won by football teams Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

This fountain has been developed in recent years so that when the music sounds, the water goes to the music and the water changes color under lights.

Today there will be a demonstration at 5:30 pm in defense of the Tajo-Segura transfer, which will from this roundabout. Tajo-Segura transfer is a work that was done in 70 years to bring water to Murcia (Murcia is a region with low rainfall) and other neighboring provinces. Today the water dispute between autonomous communities. Well, actually it is a dispute between political parties for votes in their respective regions.

I will not go because I think that is too politicized the issue.

Although I know that many people will go to defend this scarce commodity in Murcia, regardless of whether it is a political party or another.

Mountains of Carrascoy (Sierra de Carrascoy y El Valle)

At only 6 kilometers from the city of Murcia is the Mountains of Carrascoy and The Valley.

The strategic location of the mountains overlooking the valley of the river valleys of Segura and Guadalentín has meant that the man chose this land as a place of settlement throughout history. Found remains of the Bronze Age, Argar, Iberians, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs. In the archaeological complex of the Iberian Sanctuary of Light and the monastery church of Nuestra Señora de la Luz, excavations confirmed the existence of a Latin-inspired temple, built between III and II century BC. Any director of suspense films he had found the parking lot so empty to make a movie.

The image is of the mall yesterday.

I have spoken before about this mall. This is the main entrance. Any day in the morning, before it reaches all people, it is good to go.
The shopping center is called Thader (see labels). This name has its origin in the presence of the Roman Empire in Murcia (see History label) and called by this name to our current river Segura.

Benches Next To The Auditorium

In front of the auditorium of Murcia, which I have already commented on some things before (see labels), are these benches.

The truth is that they are not widely used because they lack shade shelters. But when the holidays arrive, it's a great place to relax.

High School Of El Carmen (Instituto de El Carmen)

In the district of El Carmen is the institute.

This institute was originally built as an institute for women (the first in Murcia) and normal school teachers. What exists today is the result of many changes since its initial design in May 1941 by the architect Jose Luis de Leon. The site chosen was due to the existence of a plot attached to the former headquarters of the University (the current public school Carmen), who had already left campus to be becoming a school. San Pedro Del Pinatar: Mar Menor

Last weekend I was visiting the beaches of Murcia, in particular the beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar.
The beach is only 50 kilometers from the city of Murcia.
In the picture, Mar Menor The Mar Menor is a salt water lagoon in Spain, located along the Mediterranean Sea in the Region of Murcia. Their special ecological and natural features make the Mar Menor and only a natural saltwater lake in Europe increased. The MarMenor is ideal for water sports, in fact, practically the whole year to do sport in this gap, thanks mainly to its calm waters and climate of the Region of Murcia.

Facade Of The Old Palace Of Silk Weights

Alongside the main building of the Museum Of Fine Arts Of Murcia (MUBAM)is this facade which is of the ancient Palace of Silk Weights, which housed the beginnings of the museum of fine arts in the early nineteenth century.

The facade is baroque.

Another facade is preserved (of the same palace) in the same enclosure that serves as a facade of the building of temporary exhibitions.

Código (Code)

In the Alfonso X "El Sabio"avenue is one of the most famous place of fiesta in Murcia: Codigo. As the poster says: Who has not gone through Code in 28 years?

Some time ago that I'm not going, but here I have completed many nights at a bar with friends and that was my girlfriend, and now my wife.

In the poster you can see photos of these 28 years: the attempted coup in Spain: February 23, 1981; the mascot of the World Football España'82: Naranjito; the mascot of the Barcelona'92 Olympics: Cobi; the mascot for the Universal Exhibition of Sevilla'92: Curro; the champion cyclist of 5 tours of France: Miguel Indurain; the change of currency: the Euro; the attack on the twin towers: the 11-S; promotion 1st division the football team of the city: Real Murcia.

Many things have happened in the past 28 years, and that the Pub Código continues watching it.

Olive Tree

Along the bank yesterday is this olive tree. Symbol of peace. Symbol of relaxation.

So when leaving the bank after signing a mortgage in 40 years, you look at the olive tree and you think: "I expect to pay the mortgage before the olive tree dies."

Come Into The Bank

With this economic crisis, banks sharpen the wit to attract customers. The bank has placed signs in their windows that says: ENTRE (es por su interés) [COME INTO (is your interest)].

Banks really only interested in customers with money.

When you have an economic problem, the bank will never help you.

Front Door of the Centro Párraga (Parraga Modern Cultural Center)

Last December, I showed you the back entrance of this cultural center of modern performing arts.

Today, the main entrance from the courtyard of the old artillery barracks.

The Bell-Tower of the Cathedral of Murcia (La Torre-Campanario de la Catedral de Murcia)

The bell tower, built from 1521 to 1793, measured 93 meters (98 vane), being other than the width of the five bodies that compose it. It is a combination of different styles.
-The first body is a square with a Renaissance style and ornamentation of spanish plateresco.
-The second body is the same style, but following lines purists, the works were completed in 1555, was paralyzed at this level for over two centuries.
-The third body, which houses the clock, began to rise in 1765 and under the canons of the Baroque.
-In the fourth body conjuratorios include four temples crowned with domes and pyramids effigies of saints Fulgencio, Leandro, Isidoro and Florentina. They conjure storms with the relic of the Lignum Crucis which is preserved in the Cathedral.
-The fifth body, the Rococo style for the bell.
-It all ends with the graceful dome of the neoclassical style, culminating finally with the torch in 1793. (Source: wikipedia)

This thing you see is a green container glass recycling. It is not the image of a crystal, but contains a large amount in it. So everyone to recycle, for the sake of the earth.
